A Letter from Staten Island Holocaust Center President, Rachel Borenstein...
I would like to personally invite all of you to a Holocaust educational event on Tuesday, November 28 at the Jewish Community Center of Staten Island. While we are Commemorating Kristallnacht, the event focus is on the theme of mutual responsibility (ערבות הדדית). In light of recent events in Israel it is important to acknowledge the growing antisemitism around the world and the appreciation for the support received by the United States. We propagate the significant in these challenging times of “ love thy friend as thyself“.
ואהבת לרעך כמוך
Commemorating Kristallnacht is presented in partnership between several institutions including the Staten Island Holocaust Center, Amud Aish Memorial Museum of Brooklyn, NY and Ganzach Kiddush Hashem of Bnei Brak in Israel. The event will feature an exhibition and brief film presentation on the history and victim experience of the Holocaust with a special focus on the values and perspectives of faith-based communities. The exhibition also includes Holocaust artifacts, art work by Ayala Borten, Emil Jacoby and artifacts from the Staten Island Jewish Historical Society.
With several guest speakers scheduled to appear, Commemorating Kristallnacht is designed to inspire high school aged students and adults to remember the history of Kristallnacht through Holocaust Education. We are looking forward to seeing you all there. Rachel Borenstein
